SDI Assistant Instructor Course

The SDI Assistant Instructor Course is designed to build on the SDI Divemaster Program by gaining practical teaching experience, learning to prepare lesson plans, and give academic presentations. You will work with an instructor to gain experience teaching before moving on to the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor level. Once you complete the Specialty Instructor training with a qualified SDI Instructor Trainer, you can become qualified to teach several SDI Specialty Diver courses.

Who this course is for:

• This course is designed to have students gain practical teaching experience with an active SDI Instructor

Course prerequisites:

• Minimum age 18
• Certified SDI Divemaster or equivalent
• Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen provider,* where local law permits
• Provide proof of at least 60 logged dives or 50 logged dives and 25 hours underwater accumulated time
• Possess the minimum instructional equipment, as defined in leadership course standards section two of this manual

* Note: CPR, first aid, and oxygen provider courses may be combined with the IDC Program by qualified instructors

• Demonstrate all open water diver skills to instructor quality
• Complete the SDI Assistant Instructor exam, or online version, with a minimum score of 80 percent and 100 percent remediation

Some of the required skills you will have to demonstrate include:

• Assist in all required courses
• Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution
• Complete a 400-metre swim on the surface, non-stop, at any stroke, without the use of swimming aids, in less than 10 minutes; swim goggles permitted
• Complete an 800-metre swim with mask, snorkel, and fins non-stop without the use of arms in less than 17 minutes
• Provide proof of 60 logged dives
• Bring a diver, simulating unconsciousness, up from depth, not greater than 6 metres/20 feet; at the surface, swim them 100 metres in less than 4 minutes

Our highly professional team conducts all courses to ensure that all our students receive the best quality training. The valid time period of any course is  6 months (after the payment is made). The course time is very flexible. You only need to complete the theory and swimming pool training and meet the course performance requirements (within the relevant time limit to complete the course. You can obtain an internationally recognised diver certificate and become a qualified diver!

Course Policy

1. 1. There will be a payment deadline announcement to all participants, no late fee will be accepted.
   2. If you cancel or transfer your course for personal reasons, you must pay an administration fee starting from $98, which will incur within the paid fee.
   3. The difference must also be paid if the new course is of a higher value than the original booking. No exceptions.
   4. If special circumstances or ocean conditions cause the necessary cancellation of the day's activities, our students or participants who paid will get the fee conveyed into credit points. No direct cash return.
   5. If you are unable to attend for personal reasons, this is non-refundable.
   6. Before payment for any activity or course, the company reserves the right to change the price, and participants must take the initiative to confirm the relevant changes.
   7. If an emergency medical condition manifests within 24hrs of your course start time, proof must be provided to transfer your course at a reduced rate, depending on the case.
   8. If you have indicated yes to any of the questions on our dive conditional form, then one will need to be provided at the time of booking or 14 days before the course start date. Once you are fit to dive unconditionally, the cancellation procedure will apply the above conditions. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of the course and rebooking will be at full cost.
